Via Commission Regulation No. 2018/677 (which amends Regulation No. 1333/2008, as amended, on Food Additives) thaumatin (E957) is now permitted as a flavour enhancer in sauces (max. 5 mg/kg) and Potato-, cereal-, flour- or starch-based snacks (max. 5 mg/kg). The amendment is accessible here:
